The Recent TWGs meeting: Seeking Estimates of the Prevalence of Substandard Drugs

On 26 January 2023, STARmeds held the technical working groups meeting (Kelompok Kerja Teknis/ Pokja Teknis) to measure substandard medicine prevalence led by STARmeds’s Co-Principal Investigators, Prof. Dr. Apt. Yusi Anggriani, M.Kes and Elizabeth Pisani, M.Sc., MA, PhD.

This agenda is a continuation of the previous technical working group which invited government institution from Agency of Drug and Food Control of Indonesia (BPOM), Ministry of Health, Regional Health Agencies, Social Health Insurance Administration Body (BPJS Kesehatan), Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (KemenkoPMK), National Procurement Board (LKPP), The Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI), Association of Indonesian Pharmaceutical Companies (GP Farmasi), Association of Indonesian Hospitals (PERSI), and experts.

The aim of this event is to come into an agreement about the assumptions related to these estimates:

1. Appropriate methods to estimate prevalence
2. Appropriate data source
3. Appropriate assumptions to estimate prevalence.

The participants enganged well in the meeting and provided useful insights and input to the estimation delevoped by the team that helps the next steps for STARmeds.
