The aim of this study is to identify opportunities and constraints in increasing access and availability of JKN drugs.

The objectives of this study are:

  1. To identify the root cause of drug shortages in the JKN drugs supply and service chain in relation to the role of BPJS-K in strategic purchasing in medicines
  2. To conduct in-dept studies relate to the implementation of BPJS-K’s roles as an active buyer in strategic purchasing in medicines based on previous studies and regulatory reviews
  3. To conduct in-dept studies regarding the implementation of BPJS-K’s roles as an active buyer in strategic purchasing in medicines based on benchmarks from other countries and literature studies
  4. To collect, process and analyze data in JKN drug administration using qualitative and qualitative method

We used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to see the relationship of variables with drugs shortages. We also conducted FGD to the relevant stakeholders to obtain in-dept information that were not captured in the SEM questionnaire to find the factors of drugs shortages in Indonesia.
